Josh...
Josh Fossgreen is a young Sonoma County native who found his passion for music at age 13. Starting on electric bass, and picking up the upright soon after, Josh progressed quickly from working on ZZ Top and the Ramones to Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius tunes. After graduating from Santa Rosa High School's Artquest program, he spent two years at Santa Rosa Junior College honing his music theory knowledge and playing in the school big band and jazz combos. He has played in many styles, including bebop, big band, contemporary jazz, third wave ska, 'gypsy jazz,' bossa nova, samba, metal, and more.
Josh has gigged professionally in the area since age 16. He has had the pleasure of working with great musicians like Yolanda Nickell, Michael Aragon, Babatunde Lea, Dayna Stephens, Terrence Brewer, Jimmy Lutrell, Bennett Friedman, Vernelle Anders, Greg Hester, Jordan Wardlaw, Noam Lemish, Joe Hashizume, David Prescott, Val Fuentes of It's A Beautiful Day, popular Bay Area rock duo Toast Machine, and others. He also has classical experience playing in the Santa Rosa Youth Orchestra, where he became principal bassist after one season, and later with the American Philharmonic of Sonoma County, Rogue Valley Symphony in Ashland, and Symphony of the Redwoods in Ft. Bragg. In the world of musicals, he has played in pit orchestras for productions of Bastien et Bastienne, Trouble in Tahiti, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, They're Playing Our Song, and Little Shop of Horrors.
