David Prescott has played music all of his life. Starting out in the summer before fifth grade David took up the trombone and has been playing music ever since.
Learning everything from classical to jazz, David stood out from the crowd and was a natural leader. Starting his first band before he could drive, he was already booking gigs and bringing musicians together. Many of these original players are still playing professionally today.
After college David made a major change in his life and opted for a "rock and roll" lifestyle. He put away the trombone and picked up electric bass. In addition, David found himself with a thirst for writing. Over the next twenty-five plus years David had composed and recorded literally hundreds of songs. His writing talents spanned just about any genre you could imagine. From writing songs for rock and pop bands to writing and recording jingles for commercials and doing music scoring for TV.
David continued playing bass and also picked up drums, guitar, and keyboards over the years. At one time David was the frontman and vocalist for several rock bands.
As time went on, David became more entrenched in the music industry. Playing with some of the Bay Area's biggest independent bands during the 80's and early 90's David was working with some of the most talented artists in the area.
Only a few years ago did David finally pick up the horn again. Filled with a feeling of lost time nd opportunities he's made it his lifes quest to make up for what he missed.
Besides being one of the top jazz trombone players around, he's also a master at putting the right players together and making something magical happen. He has a way of getting the best performance out of people around him.
"Sometimes you can put the best players together and it just doesn't work". States David. "Sometimes personalities, timing, and a shared goal can be much more powerful and lead to a more synergistic outcome".
In the case of the Jazz Warriors, it's the best of both worlds. While bringing together such incredible talents, the group has a great time playing and working together.
